A2P 10DLC Registration with LimePhone
In an effort to combat spam and promote transparency in text message marketing, the US Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has mandated the implementation of A2P 10DLC (Application-to-Person 10-Digit Long Code). This new system requires all businesses and individuals who send text messages from US phone numbers to register with The Campaign Registry, a third-party organization responsible for verifying and approving A2P 10DLC applications.
Who Needs to Register?
Regardless of whether you are using LimePhone for business or personal use, you are required to register for A2P 10DLC if you send text messages to any US number. This includes sole proprietors, businesses, and individuals.
What is the Registration Process?
To register for A2P 10DLC with LimePhone, follow these steps:
- Access your LimePhone account settings.
- Select "Trust" from the left-hand menu.
- Click on the "Get started" button.
- Complete the registration form by providing the required information.
What are the Fees?
A2P 10DLC registration involves a one-time fee of $19 and monthly fees based on user category:
- Organizations: $1.50 per month
- Sole proprietors and personal users: $2 per month
- Non-profits: $3 per month
What Happens After I Submit the Registration Form?
Your application will be reviewed by The Campaign Registry, which typically takes 1-3 business days to approve or reject submissions. You will receive a notification once your application is reviewed.
What if I am Not Eligible to Register?
There are certain individuals and businesses that are not eligible to register for A2P 10DLC. These include:
- Individuals using LimePhone for personal use without a US or Canadian address and local phone number.
- Businesses without a government tax ID without a US or Canadian address and local phone number.
- Businesses with a government tax ID based outside of the United States or Canada.
If you are not eligible to register with LimePhone, we recommend switching to a toll-free number. Toll-free numbers are not subject to the same regulations as local phone numbers, and you do not need to register for A2P 10DLC to send text messages from them.
What if My Registration is Rejected?
If your A2P 10DLC registration is rejected, you will receive an email notification from The Campaign Registry explaining the reason for the rejection. You can also view the rejection reason in-app by going to your settings and selecting "Trust."
To resubmit your application, address the reason for your rejection and make the necessary changes. Once you have done so, you can resubmit your application through the LimePhone app.
Additional Notes
- LimePhone prohibits the sending of spam, fraudulent, malicious, abusive, or illegal text messages.
- STIR/SHAKEN is a caller authentication framework that helps to identify legitimate senders of text messages. When a LimePhone user sends a text message, the LimePhone platform will submit a STIR/SHAKEN token to the carrier network. The carrier network will then verify the token and, if it is valid, will display the LimePhone user's Caller ID information to the recipient.
